I’m someone on the autism spectrum. While the clinical definition would suggest I have difficulties with social awareness (then again, who doesn’t at some point?), I’ve accepted the idea that I just happen to think differently than other people. However, with therapy and time, I can also interact with people who aren’t affected. I’m a bridge between two worlds.
I also will be graduating from the University of Minnesota in May with a degree in journalism and a minor in communication studies. My ultimate aspiration would be to cover the Olympics, but I’ll settle for sports reporting or broadcasting. I do enjoy meeting people and am quite a chatterbox, which goes against some of the stereotypes surrounding the autism spectrum. I seek to understand not only what affects me, but how and why people think they way they do. I’m an intellectually curious person who wants to have a good time.
